TWO CHARGED BUT MORE INFORMATION NEEDED

Posted on: Wed 01 Jul 2009

AN 18-year-old man from Great Houghton has been charged with a public order offence and the assault of a police horse as the result of an investigation into a pitch incursion at Oakwell on Saturday April 25, 2009.

Following an appeal last week, a further 40-year-old man has been identified and charged with a public order offence and bailed until July 6th.

Barnsley police are now seeking the help of the general public in the identification of the other four suspects.

Sergeant David Lock, who policed the game back in April, said: "These are clear images and I urge anyone who can help identify these men to come forward.

"The actions of a few can have wider implications on the club and the general enjoyment and safety of fans and this behaviour should not be tolerated by Barnsley folk.

"We are working closely with Barnsley Football Club to ensure that their true supporters can enjoy watching their team without public order offences and I ask that you work with us to achieve this."
