POLICE are warning the public to beware of a Euro-Millions Lottery scam.

The scam involves people being contacted via a letter stating that they have won a large sum of money (in the six-figure region) and to contact one of two telephone numbers, with their bank details, in order to claim the money.

This is one of a number of similar lottery scams that have circulated throughout the UK. In reported incidents the fraudulent companies have been known by various names including 'Euromillion Lottery International', 'Loteria. es' and the 'International Lottery Board', together with other similar variations.

Anyone who is contacted in this way is warned not to comply with the request and to contact the South Yorkshire Police's Economic Crime Unit via 0114 2202020.
