FORMER Barnsley midfielder Grant McCann has been nominated for the Northern Ireland Football Writers Association international personality of the year.

McCann, now with Scunthorpe United, is up against Manchester United's Jonny Evans and Nottingham Forest's Sammy Clingan for the award, announced tonight.

Northern Ireland coach Nigel Worthington said: "I'm delighted that Grant worked his way back into the squad. Here was a player who listened to what he needed to do, took the advice on board, went away worked hard on his game and he now is reaping the benefits. He's scoring goals for us and more importantly giving me the performance I know he can produce."
