FORMER Barnsley defender Lewin Nyatanga is looking forward to locking horns with the Reds at Pride Park tomorrow.

Lewin told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "Hopefully it should be a good game and it is one that I am very much looking forward to. It will be a bit strange to line up against Barnsley after spending so much time there but you are always going to end up playing against your former clubs at some stage or another and it should be another good experience for me.

"I have very good memories of my time at Barnsley and I loved the year I had with the club. It was a very enjoyable time to be at the Club and I really enjoyed it. The manager, coaching staff, players and supporters were really good to me and it has helped me as a player this year.

"It was a good time. I went to Barnsley to play matches and that is what I did. I think the experiences I had there have really helped bring me on as a player".

He added: "Derby is a place refreshed now under the new gaffer and the players all come into training with a smile on their faces. It is a very positive place to be and things look good.

"We have picked up some good results but this division is very tight and anyone can beat anyone else on their day. We have to make sure that we stay in the league and build next season. The experience I had of beating relegation at Barnsley last season is something that will help me even more.

"We have the highest attendance in the league at Pride Park so tomorrow's game should be a great one. There is always a good atmosphere and it is a great stadium to play in. Hopefully we will get a good game".

Lewin arrived at Oakwell initially in February 2007 and clocked up ten games on loan in two successful months. He returned for two spells during the 2007/2008 campaign, making 43 first team appearances.
