A VERY young and inexperienced Barnsley side battled bravely but were beaten by a Whites team packed with first team stars.

United were on top from the start but it took until just after the half hour for the hosts to find the breakthrough when Ben Parker's cross found Amercian Mike Grella and the Whites trialist made no mistake.

Leeds grabbed a second less than two minutes later after the ball broke kindly for Neil Kilkenny and the midfielder lashed one in from 20-yards.

Grella grabbed his second shortly after the restart when he latched onto another defence splitting pass by Chris Ovington and beat Kyle Letheren.

Grella completed the scoring with four minutes to goal and grabbed his hat trick with a well taken strike.
