REDS striker Michael Coulson is determined to come back after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury for the second time in ten months.

Michael told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "I don't know what to say really. I cannot quite get my head around things at the moment and it has not sunk in at all. It is just unbelievable really.

"The injury happened in training. I had a shot, which Kyle (Letheren) saved and I just looked to put it into the net and he dove down to stop me. The pitch was a little icy and my leg just gave way under me. It did not feel too bad and I was able to walk off the pitch.

"It wasn't until the day after when my knee had swollen up again that I thought something was really wrong. It felt completely different but I have not completely snapped the ligament this time. It is not as bad but they still need to put in a new cruciate so the time out is going to be the same.

"I have a date set for February 5. They cannot operate any sooner because they went in to have a look at the injury and need to allow that to heal and make sure there is no infection.

"I then have to go down the same road as before but I know I will be back in time for next season. That is what is keeping me going and I have done it all before. I know I can come back and I will be back again.

"I had never missed a single day of training before I injured my knee the first time. I came back in the summer and had not skipped a session again this time. I have a lot of strong people around me who are helping me through it at the moment. I am going to keep going and I will be back for next season.

"You have to be positive otherwise you would not come back from an injury like this. This season is a write off and I played just four reserve team games. I came back from the injury last time and I will do it again. I know what is in front of me and I know what's coming".
