ROTHERHAM UNITED 4 (Taylor 2, Darley, Holmes)
BARNSLEY 2 (Coulson, Adam)

GOALS by Michael Coulson and Jamil Adam were not enough as the Reds slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Rotherham United.

After a scrappy opening Rotherham snatched the lead on eleven minutes when Ryan Taylor showed great vision to lob Kyle Letheren from 30 yards and his well-struck effort gave the Reds keeper no chance.

The Millers were almost further in front three minutes later when Grant Darley brought a fine save from Letheren after letting fly from the edge of the area.

Darley and Marc Newsham also went close to adding to the lead before the Reds were level on the half hour when Michael Coulson swept home Alistair Taylor's cut back from close range.

Barnsley suddenly sprang into gear and Jamil Adam grabbed a second for Ronnie Branson's young side just eight minutes later after bursting through the Millers defence and beating Steven Cann.

The Reds were undone just minutes after the restart when Peter Holmes was given time and space on the wing and he cut inside before planting a shot past Letheren from 20 yards.

Rotherham grabbed the lead on 56 minutes when Darley was allowed to advance through midfield and managed to squeeze his 20-yarder past Letheren and into the back of the net.

Barnsley pushed on but were hit with a sucker punch on 70 minutes when Taylor again found a yard of space on the edge of the area and managed to turn and beat Letheren to wrap up the game for the Millers.
