GLOSSOP NORTH END 2 (Young 7 Hodges 33)
BARNSLEY 2 (Kozluk 72, Adam 76)

THE Reds left it late but second half goals by Rob Kozluk and Jamil Adam spared their blushes at Glossop.

Barnsley were on the back foot from the seventh minute when Dave Young's free kick evaded everybody and somehow dropped in past Kyle Letheren at the back post.

It got even better for the Hillmen on 33 minutes when a mix up between Luke Potter and Robert Atkinson gave Dave Hodges a clear run on goal. The Glossop midfielder made no mistake and planted his shot beyond Letheren.

Barnsley were better after the break and Andy Johnson, Diego Leon and Bobby Hassell went close to pulling one back when they all saw efforts strike the woodwork. Thing finally clicked on 72 minutes when Leon crossed well from the left and Kozluk put his header past Scott Fielding's despairing dive.

Leon was involved three minutes later when he split the Glossop defence wide open and Adam was again in the right place to net his third goal in two pre-season outings.

There was still time for Hassell to bring an outstanding save from Fielding on 80 minutes as the Reds pressed for a winner. Leon then almost put a third on a plate for Adam two minutes later when he clipped in a great free kick from the left but the young striker could not direct his header into the far corner.

GLOSSOP NORTH END: Fielding, Young, Whelan, Lugsden, Yates, Hodges, Ince, Acton, Hamilton, Bailey, Trucper.

BARNSLEY: Letheren, Van Homoet, Atkinson, Potter, Kozluk, Hassell, Johnson, Togwell, Howard (Leon 45), Butterfield, Adam.
