REDS new boy Darren Moore is looking forward to a Championship challenge at Oakwell next season.

Darren told Barnsley World TV: "The Club came in for me and after speaking with Simon (Davey) and Ryan (Kidd) I had no hesitation in joining. Both of them showed ambition for this football club and that definitely fits in with what I want to achieve in my career.

"Simon is a young, up and coming manager and there is not going to be a better time to come to Barnsley and relish the challenges that we face. I want to be a part of what they want to achieve here. I still want to improve as a player and I believe that Simon is the right man to help me do that.

"I have played against Barnsley for most of my old clubs and I know all about the set up here. It is a great set up with magnificent facilities. It is a great club and it is great to be a part of it.

"When Barnsley were promoted to the Premier League I remember that there was a lot of speculation that I could be joining them from Doncaster. It was a big thing at the time but it just never came about because the clubs could not agree a fee. It is great to see that the club moved on from that time and used it well by building the great facilities Oakwell has today".

Darren added: "There is not a lot between the successful teams and the unsuccessful ones in the Championship. It is a very thin line and doing well next season will be all about getting some momentum but doing it on a consistent basis.

"We have to make sure we do our jobs week in, week out. This club has shown that it can match it in this division and compete with the best.

"We can make a challenge next season the same as anyone else. You have to have aspirations and goals and you need to set yourself a high target. If you do that you can push everybody on towards it.

"There is nothing sweeter than winning promotion from this division and I have managed to do it four times. You are one step away from the Premier League.

"There was a great temptation to stay at Derby County but part of me felt that it was time to go. We achieved a lot there and played in the Premier League. I really enjoyed my time there.

"Playing in the Premier League was excellent last season even though the way it went. I have come here now and I am really looking forward to the challenge. Being in football is all about challenges and my career has been full of them. I see a club here that can overcome those next season".
