THE STUFF DREAMS ARE MADE OF - CHETTLE
FORMER Barnsley defender Steve Chettle believes the Reds will probably never have a better chance of getting to the FA Cup Final.
Speaking exclusively to Reds Head of Media Rob Knowles for www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Steve said: "It is brilliant. It is one of the very rare times when a team from outside the top flight has a genuine chance of winning the cup. There is no reason why it could not be Barnsley.
"When you are at a club like Barnsley and you start off in the Third Round then you never really believe that you have a chance of going all the way. This is the stuff dreams are made of and the big hitters have all dropped out on the way,
"It will be a different experience because there is no carrot of a Wembley final at the end of the Semi. They will have already been to Wembley but it is an exciting time for Barnsley.
"It was the same when we went to Wembley back in 2000. Looking back I think we would have win the game if Darren (Barnard) scored that penalty. Ipswich were the better team on the day though.
"The build up to Wembley had the town buzzing. It will be the same again this time around. The players have to treat it as just another game against a team they are more than capable of beating.
"We had a sticky time of it after that Wembley game. It is a bigger game for Barnsley now than ever because of the last few years and all the things the club has been through.
"There is no reason that Barnsley cannot go on and make history this season".
Steve joined the Reds in 1999 and went on to make 104 appearances before leaving three years later.
