MOSTTO LEADS RESERVES CHARGE

Posted on: Thu 31 Jan 2008

GRIMSBY TOWN 0
BARNSLEY 3

BARNSLEY'S reserves got back to winning ways yesterday as a comprehensive first half display blew away Grimsby at Blundell Park.

Miguel Mostto put the Reds in front with just two minutes on the clock as he raced past a static Mariners backline before slotting the ball easily past Gary Montgomery.

Montgomery was picking the ball out of the back of the net again on 18 minutes after he did well to parry Mostto's effort but it fell nicely for Michael Coulson to tap in from close range.

It was three on 27 minutes after Rohan Ricketts showed great vision to send Luke Potter in behind the defence and the youngster hammered the ball into the roof of the net.

BARNSLEY: Letheren, Smith, Potter, Butterfield, Meynell, Jennings, Devaney, White, Mostto, Coulson, Ricketts.
Subs: Free, Adam, Waterfall, Fedorenko, McGrory.
