BARNSLEY somehow managed to sneak a win after a thrilling seven goal clash with York City at Oakwell.

The Reds were in front with just five minutes on the clock when the City defence made a complete mess of Jacob Butterfield's corner and Jamil Adam nipped in the rifle the ball home.

City pulled things level on 32 minutes after Sodje had the better of Luke Waterfall in the area only for the defender to hack him down from behind. Sodje took the penalty himself an smashed a low shot past Kyle Letheren.

Sodje was gifted another chance from the spot just two minutes later after Bobby Hassell had clumsily tripped Chris Beardsley. Sodje found the bottom corner from 12 yards.

The Reds hit back within a minute of the restart when Rhys Meynell drilled the ball in from close range after good play down the left.

It got even better on 71 minutes after Coulson hit the deck in the penalty area after Josh Racliffle had lunged in from behind. Coulson planted his spot kick past Josh Mimms easily.

There was still time for late drama as Adam pounced from close range to grab a fourth for the Reds on 91 minutes before the striker wasted a golden opportunity to net a hat trick just seconds later after Coulson had again been fouled in the box. Adam smashed his penalty against the bar.

Ross Greenwood pulled one back for York late on after the referee had failed to give a foul on Letheren.
