WELL - it's that time of year when a lot of people in football take their annual holidays and I'm no different. But there's no point starting something and then letting it slide for a fortnight so I'm here blogging in Cyprus where it's officially hot!

It's been a strange week really. We got here on Sunday morning when there were a lot of Newcastle United shirts knocking about the hotel. There were not so many by the time the Premier League matches had finished. It was the same on Monday when a couple of Sheffield United tops mysteriously went missing.

Watching the Champions League Final on Wednesday night was also a real eye opener. There were probably more English people shouting for Barcelona during the game than for Manchester United. There's something just not right about that and something decidedly un-English. It's the footballing equivalent of standing by the trenches and shouting for the Germans. It's just not right and it's just not cricket!!

Still, at least we have a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks at Oakwell. The brand new 2009/2010 home kit will be unveiled in the very, very near future. There's a lot of other things in the pipeline throughout the summer as well new faces arriving on the playing side.

The summer's just beginning to warm up. It's 37 degrees here but I am sure the next six or seven weeks will be even hotter at Oakwell. Get down and get your season ticket and make sure you're in the best seat in the house for when the most competitive league in Europe kicks off in August.
