REDS Academy Manager Ronnie Branson believes his side should have picked up all three points against Crewe last weekend.
Ronnie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "We did pretty well against a string Crewe side who had drawn with Chelsea the week before but we really should have won the game.
"We set off really well and were two goals up in the first half. Steven Bennett got the first after being played clean through by Jamil Adam on 25 minutes. Jamil then added a second five minutes before the break after smashing one in from the edge of the area.
"To their credit, Crewe came out string in the second half and really put their game together. They pulled one back before Jamil hit another one in from 20 yards with 15 minutes to go and that should have been it really.
"We gifted Crewe one back through an individual error and they really piled on the pressure after that. We had to defend for our lives in the last ten minutes but they managed to level things up late on. Even then we had another chance to win it in stoppage time when Jamil forced a fine save from their keeper.
"We are disappointed not to have won the game especially after being 3-1 up with 15 minutes to go but our lads will learn a lot from that and there were some good performances. They have to learn how to see a game out like that.
"The Academy is all about player development and we had a lot of positives to take from the game. We also have a lot of lads in the reserves tonight which can only be good for us.
"We now have a tough trip to Everton this weekend, who will have a couple of lads with Premier League experience and a few England internationals in their side. It is one we are really looking forward to but it will not be easy especially after Everton beat Derby County 6-0 last weekend".
