Winnall Delight At Double Award

7 May 2015

Reds striker Sam Winnall revealed his delight at scooping two trophies in the Club's End of Season Awards presentation, which took place ahead of Barnsley's final match of the season against Rochdale.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have received two awards this season," Winnall told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk.

"Picking up the Disabled Supporters' Player of the Year is very humbling and I'm very grateful for it. Like anything, this season has had its ups and downs but I feel that for my first season at this level, as it has been for many players this term, I've done quite well."

Winnall netted 13 goals for the Reds in a campaign that was slightly hampered by a troublesome hamstring strain over Christmas.  Last summer's signing from Scunthorpe saw one of his two contenders for Goal of the Season earn the top prize - his sweet strike against Notts County topping the bill.

"It was one of those where it was in as soon as it left my boot and it was a great feeling to see it hit the back of the net," he added. "I always enjoy scoring goals, like any striker, but there have been a few that stand out for different reasons.

"I'm looking forward to a bit of rest over the summer and I'm determined that I will hit the ground running next season after a good, solid pre-season. I'll be all out to break my goals tally and help fire us up that league table."
