Barnsley Manager Danny Wilson is hoping his side bounce back from Saturday’s eight-goal thriller at home to MK Dons as he prepares for Fleetwood Town tonight.
Wilson says James Bailey and Keith Treacy are ‘getting closer’ but tonight’s match at Fleetwood is probably too soon for the midfield duo.
“From their perspective, maybe it’s a game too soon,” he said. “The weekend would be easier to assess it. It’s more of a gamble for Wednesday than Saturday.
“We’re hoping they give us a nice headache but I’m not sure if it’s too early.
“You never know. In football, in 24 hours, things change.”
The Barnsley boss also confirmed goalkeeper Ross Turnbull is recovering ‘very well’ having had an injection in his back last week.
“We have done well away from home,” continued Wilson. “I think a lot of teams up and down the country are very similar. It takes a little bit of pressure away from you and you can relax slightly.”
Speaking of tonight’s opponents – who the Reds meet for the very first time in history – the Barnsley Manager added, “They’re playing very well, even though they’ve had a few indifferent results lately.
“The games that we’ve seen them play, they’ve played at a very high intensity and particularly going up to Fleetwood, it’s going to be a tough game.
“The first exchanges of any league throws up some strange results. Until it all settles down after 10 or 12 games you can start getting a better picture of the league.
“They’ve got some very good players and they’re a very good team at home.
“But we do offer a threat and the guys at Fleetwood will understand our threat.
“Patience is always a virtue in anything you do, let alone football.
“We just want to put right what we did not too well on Saturday.”
