Striker Harry White struggled to describe the feeling of making his professional debut against Bradford City last night.
The forward, who joined from Gloucester City before the transfer window shut, came on in the 65th minute to help the Reds overcome the Bantams in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last night.
"It’s still hard to put into words really," White revealed to barnsleyfc.co.uk. "It’s all I’ve ever dreamt of being on the pitch as a professional.
"When the gaffer gave me the nod I took a deep breath and to just come on in front of all the fans was just unbelievable."
The 20-year-old was made to wait for his senior bow following last week's postponement, meaning his parents had another long trek to see him in action!
"Last week they came all the way up and they were gutted," he said. "It took three-and-a-half hours but they were there last night to see me again so that pleasing."
Marley Watkins and Alfie Mawson got a goal each to overturn the Bantams' lead, and White was thrilled to help his new side into the next round with a home tie against York City beckoning.
"It was a lot quicker pace than what I'm used to," he continued. "It was one of those games where I knew I wouldn't get on the ball that much but I had to work hard for the team and put myself about.
"I feel, overall, we did what we needed to do to get the result. I was trying to press them high to help the lads behind me and relieve a bit of pressure.
"All of the lads were encouraging me through the game and I got a nice little round of applause from all the boys in the dressing room afterwards, so that was a nice touch."
