Reds Supporters Set For the 2015 London To Amsterdam Challenge This Weekend!

We are proud to introduce our team who will be representing Barnsley FC in the 2015 London to Amsterdam Challenge this weekend, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK!

The London to Amsterdam Challenge is the Football League's annual end of season fundraising event, and this year will see 260 riders from across the 92 club's taking on the 145 miles cycling challenge to raise money for the charity.

Reds Supporters Mark Mercer, Simon Jennison and Rob Davies will be flying the flag for Barnsley FC and are currently training hard for the challenge which takes place across 12th/13th June.

Rob who also works at the club commented, "It's great to see a group of Reds fans get together this year and raise money for a fantastic cause. This has been a big incentive for us to get fit and I'm sure it will be a brilliant experience as we ride across to Holland! We're all really looking forward to representing the Club and wearing the Club colours with pride alongside 260 fans from other Clubs across the country. Training has been tough, but we're ready to go and can't wait to line up in London in a couple of weeks time. Hopefully through our efforts the team will be able to raise a great amount of money for a very important and worthy cause for men across the country. We're very thankful to the fans and companies who have supported us so far and hopefully we'll get a few more donations in the lead up to the challenge! Local Barnsley Company and Barnsley FC Official Club Partner Palmer Construction have also got behind us with a generous sponsorship, so we'd like to say a huge thank you to Simon and the team; your support and donation is greatly appreciated".

Prostate Cancer UK – the Official Charity Partner of The Football League – aims to reach millions of football supporters through engagement activity across football grounds to raise awareness of the disease which now affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, that's a death rate of 10,000 deaths a year. As well as raising awareness of the disease, the official partnership will help to raise funds so that more men survive it and enjoy a better quality of life. The Men United team is galvanising the football family and inspiring a movement for change in men’s health to win the battle against prostate cancer once and for all.

We are calling on our supporters to get behind Mark, Simon and Rob and donate to Prostate Cancer UK via the team's fundraising page by clicking here. All proceeds raised by the team will be donated directly to the charity with any donations greatly appreciated by the team.

Good luck to Mark, Simon and Rob!
