Reds Win Medical and Science Team of the Year!

23 May 2016

Barnsley Football Club has won the 'Medical and Sports Science Team of the Year Award' for 2015/16.

The Football Medical Association's (FMA) annual awards and conference event recognised the best performers in each league across the country, and the Reds came out on top for the best medical and sports science team!

Voted by their peers, Barnsley's Head Physiotherapist, Craig Sedgwick told barnsleyfc.co.uk, "We're obviously absolutely delighted to win this award. We have an excellent team here at Barnsley and I'm delighted for everyone involved."

The Reds were up against Millwall and Burton Albion for the award in Sky Bet League One. Craig continued, "We have a brilliant team here and everyone works so well together. Vikki and Ruth work in the Academy but go above and beyond the call of duty to help out with first-team matters. Nathan has had a fantastic season with the first-team regarding rehab and injury prevention - whilst it's evident that the first-team are all incredibly fit. Paul and Luke in the Academy also help out when needed and we all have each other's backs and Doc Harban oversees all medical matters.

"What's also important is that we have a very cooperative and fantastic coaching team as well. They understand the importance medical science has to play in order to reach and maintain optimum fitness levels and everyone deserves praise for their part in this award."

Everybody at the Club would like to congratulate Craig, Nathan and all of the Medical and Sports Science staff for receiving the award.
