The win at Charlton on Tuesday has given the Reds hope as they need to keep picking up points from the final games of the season in order to survive.

The 2-1 victory at the Valley means Barnsley are now off the bottom and are closing in on the cluster of teams just outside the relegation zone.

Reds boss Danny Wilson admitted the importance of Tuesday’s win, saying: “It's a big psychological boost and gives us the belief we can do it. We won't get carried away but we've given ourselves a chance."

A win for Barnsley in this weekend’s Yorkshire derby could see them move to safety but only if results elsewhere go in the Tykes favour.

This will be the 58th time that this fixture has been played in the Football League.

The reverse fixture of this game took place in December and was Danny Wilson’s first game back at Barnsley.

The Reds managed to grind out a goalless draw that day and took home a valuable point. Considering the side’s performance earlier in the year and what could be at stake this time around, Barnsley are fully capable of getting the win.

The Reds don’t need to look too far for inspiration as they have earned some memorable wins over Leeds in recent times. In 2010 the Reds beat their Yorkshire rivals 5-2 and again last season Barnsley were victorious, winning 2-0 at Oakwell.

Jean-Yves M'voto scored a vital goal for Barnsley on Tuesday as he helped the team to an important win over their relegation rivals.

Starting out his career at PSG, M’voto didn’t make any appearances for the French giants before making the move to England with Sunderland.

Having not gotten any first team action for the Black Cats, M’voto went out on loan to Southend where he experienced a successful season.

Now with more of a name for himself, M’voto again went out on loan to Oldham where he impressed to the extent that he then signed a permanent deal with the club.

M’voto’s move to Barnsley came in 2013 after there had been interest from other clubs. Since his arrival, M’voto has been a big part of Barnsley defence and his value shone through in the week as he netted the opener against Charlton.

Luke Murphy has come into his own playing for Leeds this season since his summer move from Crewe. Scoring both goals in Leeds’ 2-0 win over Blackpool last weekend, the value of one of their most expensive signings of recent years is showing.

Murphy made his way through the youth system at Crewe before making his way into the first team and eventually becoming captain. Murphy’s final seasons at Crewe were the most successful as he captained the side to the Football League Trophy and he himself won 12/13 player of the season and was named in the 12/13 PFA Team of the Year.

Despite links to clubs across the Football League, including Premier League Aston Villa, Murphy found his way to Leeds at a time when it looked certain his future would be at Wolves or Blackburn.

After spending some time out of favour before his goals at the weekend, Murphy will now have a point to prove to persuade the manager to keep him in the squad.

Kelvin Etuhu and Jack Hunt are both doubts as they are still struggling through injury and Jim O’Brien is nearing full fitness.

Leeds have several injury concerns going into the game as youngster Sam Byram has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, Jimmy Kébé has also been ruled out.

Leeds have also announced that midfielder Michael Tonge is a doubt for the Yorkshire derby. One piece of good news for Leeds is that Rudolph Austin is back from injury and available for selection.
