The former Republic of Ireland youth international has signed on loan for the Reds until December 19th, 2015.
A commanding central-defender, the 25-year-old spoke to the press this morning after sealing his temporary switch to Oakwell from Turf Moor.
"I'm itching to play. I jumped at the opportunity to come out and play. The gaffer here is a genuine guy and I know one or two of the lads here. It's a good fit for me.
"Even if I didn't know anyone here it's still a big club with good training facilities, it was kind of an easy choice."
A determined and committed centre-half, Long has battled his way into Burnley's first-team squad via loans with Accrington, Rochdale and Portsmouth.
