Post-Match Reaction - Crawley v Barnsley

14 February 2015

Reds Caretaker boss Mark Burton gave his thoughts following today's clash at Crawley Town.

"It was very strange and I'm devastated with the result," said Burton."I didn't see it coming, to be honest. The first 35 minutes I thought we were well on top. We hit the crossbar, had one or two more chances and restricted them to hardly anything.

"We didn't show any character or spirit and it's got to be addressed. The goals are individual errors. It was a horror show and I really feel for the fans. I'm devastated for the fans who have travelled down here and paid a lot of money.

"I saw three or four players throw the towel in and I'm not having that. I've been asked to do this job and I'll do it to the best of my ability until I'm told otherwise. I will not tolerate that. There'll be changes next week.

"But I'm up for the fight. I'm a Barnsley kid and I'm up for the fight.

"They get a free-kick in the second half and we just haven't dealt with it. The lads are in there and they know who have made the mistakes. We haven't dealt with the physical presence of Crawley - and that's what it was, a physical presence.

"I hope the players feel like I do - absolutely cut up inside because of the nature of the defeat.

"I'm sure the players will come back with the bit between their teeth. That's what they'll do. That's what we'll demand.

"There will be a positive reaction, I'm telling you now."
