The former West Ham United Academy player was an integral part of Barnsley Academy’s excellent form last season and along with George Maris they scored plenty of goals. His form earned him a place on the first team bench for Barnsley’s last match of the season against Queens Park Rangers.
Nana will now be looking to impress Danny Wilson this time around and stake a claim for first team action in the 2014/15 Sky Bet League One season.
“It’s a really good feeling to have signed for Barnsley. Firstly I would like to thank God for this opportunity. I want to thank the staff at the Club, Ronnie Branson and Mark Burton for their support and belief as well as Ben Mansford and the Gaffer for giving me this opportunity.
“Hopefully I will be able to kick on in pre-season and show the Manager what I am all about. Moving up from West Ham last season and getting used to a new club and people has been very good and given me a chance to mature and I’ve settled in well over the last year."
There has been plenty of Academy action featured on the Club’s YouTube channel this season including some special goals from Nana.
“To have the goals on the YouTube channel has been a blessing because everyone can have a chance to see what you are doing and how good you are. It’s been very good for the team to have those clips on to help boost our motivation and confidence.
“George Maris and I have done well together. We read each other’s movements well and know what each one is going to do. Hopefully we will get a chance next season to play up front together.
“Having someone like George in a similar position to compete with helps you get better as a player.
“I’m looking to get as fit as I possibly can in pre-season and catch the manager’s eye to get into the first team, that’s what everyone wants. I’ll be looking to hit the ground running and show the Manager I can offer something different."
On the final day of last season Nana was part of the squad against Queens Park Rangers, something he was naturally delighted with.
“That game was a blessing and shows what can happen in a year. One moment I was being released from West Ham United and then the next I’m on the bench for a Championship club. Hopefully next season I will get more experiences like that.
“Obviously getting relegated is a bad thing for the Club and for the Town, but it does give the likes of myself more opportunities to show what we can do and that we can step up to the plate.”
