Lee Johnson's Preston Reaction

21 March 2015

Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson gave his thoughts on today's match with Preston at Oakwell.

"I thought the first half they edged and they had a couple of very good chances. We had a couple of very good chances as well, got into some quite good areas but didn't quite produce. Second half I thought we were the better side, I thought we had a lot of territory, a lot of possession and we had them on the rack. Of course I am disappointed not to get a win but when you are 1-0 down at half time to good side like Preston, you're happy with a point."

Having now dropped out of the play-off places following today's result, Johnson is hopeful the side can get back into the top six.

"It is not ideal but you've got to stick in there, don't forget where we have come from. I think if you are falling from second and third place and that happens then it is a disaster but there's going to be a sort of spiral effect hopefully and there is going to be shuffling of positions.

"The pack will be shuffled, it is not ideal but the fact is we are still in with a shout and if we stay tight and together as a group I think we will continue to pick up points, that has to be the plan.

"It was a good advert for League One football, it wasn't the most silky of games but again the conditions, sometimes you have to play them."

Jabo Ibehre was the man  that got the equaliser and this was something that pleased the Head Coach.

"Good little move, cut back and Mason Holgate put in a little 'come and head me in ball' as I call them and Jabo has delivered with a good finish. I am pleased for him because he is a player who needs goals and he will be very happy with that one for sure."
