Lee Johnson's Peterborough Reaction

24 November 2015

Lee Johnson spoke to the press after seeing his side slip to a 3-2 defeat away at Peterborough United despite seeing the Reds have more shots and efforts at goal than the home side.

“I thought we were brilliant.” Said Johnson. “I can’t fault the players. The fans were brilliant too. I give my thanks to them from the players and myself.

“Even with 10 men we had chances. We went two at the back, four in midfield, three upfront just to go for it. The offside goal wasn’t off, what more can we do?

“The performances are picking up. If we cut out the mistakes and poor goals, people are playing well. People are working hard and getting chances. Over the last four games we must have had 60 shots, we just need to convert them.”

After scoring the winning goal at the weekend, Kevin Long was given a straight red card with minutes remaining. Head Coach Lee Johnson gave his thoughts about the red card and injury news regarding the weekend’s match against Sheffield United.

“I’ll have to look at it again, I’ve been there as a player and you’re stretching and committed showing the world you want to win. I don’t know if he left the ground, I’ll have to have a look.

“Aidy White wanted to play, he was desperate. FA rules said he couldn’t as he was concussed.

“Ryan Williams is §back now as well. Injuries and suspensions aside we’re getting stronger. We always said we’d become stronger when the lads were back.

“I think the boys have got to use all this and go into a great game with that performance. Even though we’ve lost tonight the crowd were behind us, go home tell your mates we were good and come out Saturday and support the boys against Sheffield United.”
