The Gunners' rising star cited Head Coach Lee Johnson as a key reason for him joining Barnsley.
"I'm really pleased to be here," Crowley told Barnsley PlayerHD."He (Lee Johnson) just said he wanted me to come here, play football and express myself. He feels like he can develop me as a player and I believe him so I can’t wait to get started.
"When I met Lee, he told me what he wanted me to do and how he wanted me to play so after that there wasn’t anywhere else I wanted to go. It really suits me.
"He was at Arsenal as well, as a kid. I was just really impressed with how he’s going to develop me and that’s why I’m here."
One of Europe’s best talents for his age group, the playmaker - who joined Arsenal from Aston Villa aged 15 - is keen to help boost the Reds’ attack this season. "This is another great move for me," he continued.
"It's still massive for me playing with men in first-team football. It’s going to be a big change."I just want to help score goals, create goals and score them to win games. I want to win.
"I know Ben Pearson from (Man) United, I’ve played against him. I’ve played against Conor Wilkinson. Me and Ben had some good battles, to be fair, when I was at Villa!"
