Barnsley Football Club is delighted to welcome midfielder James Bailey to Oakwell, who joins the Reds from Derby County on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Reds and caught up with www.barnsleyfc.co.uk immediately after finalising his switch from the Rams.

“I'm really pleased to sign and can't wait to get going," said Bailey.

"The Manager has outlined his plans and they're really exciting. I want to be a part of what he is building here and get back into the Championship."

Born in Cheshire, Bailey graduated from the prestigious Academy of Crewe Alexandra and went on to feature 55 times for the first team.

In May 2010, after impressing at Crewe, Derby paid a substantial fee for the midfielder who then went on to appear 65 times for the Rams. Capable of featuring at right-back, Bailey enjoyed a 37-game loan stint at Coventry City during the 2012/13 season.
