Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce yet another Academy youngster has penned professional terms at Oakwell.

Seventeen-year-old Jack Cowgill has signed a professional, two-year contract with the Reds - running until the summer of 2016.

A towering central-defender at 6ft 4'', Jack's form towards the end of last season - his first year as an Academy scholar - earned him a place on the bench against Queens Park Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to barnsleyfc.co.uk minutes after penning his new contract, Jack said, "It's nearly ten years I've been here now and this is what I've been working towards. It still doesn't feel real, now that I've got it."

Since joining the Academy as an eight-year-old, the defender has progressed in the heart of Barnsley's rearguard and impressed for both the Under 18s and Under 21s.
