Hourihane Disappointed With Just a Point

21 September 2015

Reds midfielder Conor Hourihane was frustrated having seen his side come away from Bloomfield Road with just one point on Saturday.

The goal-scorer seemed to have set the tone as his early goal gave Barnsley the lead at Blackpool.

"I'm disappointed because I thought we played well," said Hourihane.

"Even in the second half when they got a bit of a foothold, we still played all right and created some chances.

"We had a lot of possession but probably didn't create enough chances.

"We were well on top and to score only one goal was well disappointed. We could have done with that second to make sure of a victory.

"We all know that Blackpool have got their problems but they still had 11 hungry players on the pitch who wanted to win the game.

"Maybe towards the end we could have nicked it with a few balls into the box."

The midfielder netted on eight minutes with a right-footed strike only for Jack Redshaw to level the match ten minutes into the second half.

"That's three (goals) now and it's part of my game, so when one goes in it's pleasing," he added.

"I think Lewin's got three, Marley's got a couple and so has Sam. There are goals in our team and it's important because they win games.

"It's frustrating but we take lessons from it. A lot of people say we're a young team and we have to learn quickly so we will have to take it on the chin."
