Reds stalwart Bobby Hassell tells Barnsley Player he is excited for the new season after the Manager's recent signings
“We’ve made some great singings,” Hassell told Barnsley Player in an exclusive interview. “Jacob Mellis is a great talent, he’s playing under the right manager now.
“Obviously Mido coming in, it’s an unbelievable signing and again he’s coming to play under the right manager.”
“The fans will be looking forward to it (the new season). We still need two or three, which the gaffer will know.”
The defender is also pleased to have seen Jim O’Brien pen an extension to his deal, and hopes Academy graduate Jacob Butterfield follows suit.
“Jim did really well last year,” continued Hassell. “He struggled in his first year, but last year the gaffer loved him as well which always helps as a player. He’s had that confidence and he’s a fit lad. He’s everything the gaffer wants in a player.
“Everyone was expecting Jacob (Butterfield) to leave since Christmas. The injury might have put clubs off, I hope he signs for another year. I think he needs another season at Barnsley playing well week in, week out, under a manager that trusts him and believes in him – it will benefit his career, long-term.”
