Food Bank Charity Collection At Oakwell On Saturday.

30 July 2015

Barnsley FC’s Community Trust NCS group have organised food bank collection ahead of the Huddersfield Town friendly.

Our National Citizenship Service (NCS) group at the Barnsley FC’s Community Trust have set up a Food Bank Charity project which is being delivered by teenagers from across the Barnsley region.

The National Citizen Service Programme involves young people delivering a social action project in support of their community. On Saturday we’ll have a group of 10 young people who will be volunteering throughout the initiative, from matchday collections to sorting into packs in the depot and distribution.

“Tins 4 Tea” is a Food Bank Charity project aimed at giving families that are desperate for a square meal throughout Barnsley. To help boost supplies there will be food drop off points at our upcoming home fixture at Oakwell against Huddersfield Town on Saturday 1st August. Containers will be placed in the front of the CK Beckett South Stand (outside the lottery office) and outside the Pukka Pies East Stand from 2pm onwards. There will also be a bucket collection at the game and fans can donate money to the local charity. The team will also have a drop off point at Barnsley market all of next week.

We are calling on the local community and our supporters to show your support and donate what you can for a great cause. Your donations will enable the team to provide much needed emergency food to local people in crisis. The volunteers are looking for donations of tinned food, packaged foods, shampoo, shower gel, etc, so please bring any unwanted Items along to the game and show your support for the cause.

All food will go to the Barnsley Food Bank Charity and any monetary donations will be split 50/50 between the Barnsley FC Commuity Trust & the Barnsley Food Bank Charity.

Redfearn’s Bar have very kindly donated £200 to the “Tins 4 Tea” project & will carry on the project after next week.

You can follow “Tins 4 Tea” on twitter with @Tins4Tea. You can also like them on Facebook via "Tins 4 Tea-NCS Project" to keep up to date with the work that they do.

Please don't hesitate to contact our Community team on 01226 211 333 for any further information on this project.
