Flitcroft on Blackpool Clash

9 August 2013

Barnsley Manager David Flitcroft leads his Reds side to the West coast this Saturday to face Blackpool.

The Reds boss is without defender Martin Cranie and midfielder Kelvin Etuhu, but otherwise has a pretty healthy squad to take to Bloomfield Road.

“We’re alright,” said Flitcroft. “There’s never going to be any panic from me.

“We’ve got good youngsters to back it up at this football club. Danny Rose is only probably only ten days off from featuring in the squad.

“They’ve (Blackpool) got good quality. We keep hearing their squad is small and it’s a slight squad but there’s some quality in that squad. I’ve watched them the other night at Preston and we’ve done a lot of DVD work.

“They’ve got good quality in there. They’ve been investing with Davies and the boy Chopra and Ferguson. They’ve got good players, there’s no doubt about that.

“It’s going to be a tough and formidable opposition, but we’ve got good players. On Sunday and Monday, to put in the energy they did was quite incredible.

“They want to kick-start the season. We came through a good 120 minutes, they want to get the league campaign started and it’s going to be a good game to go into on Saturday."

The Seasiders will be without their star man in Tom Ince, who starts a two-match ban this weekend, “I think either way, playing or not playing it can be a positive or a negative if the team decides they’re good in their own right," continued Flitcroft. "But he’s a wonderful player who has got great determination. He catches the eye, but for me, as a Coach, he catches the eye off the ball. His aggression in his running, he’s strong. I spoke to the young lads here about him after I watched him the other day – he’s Premier League all day, every day.”
