Flitcroft - 'Hard to Take'

10 August 2013

Reds Manager David Flitcroft was in a despondent mood after his side lost to a late, late goal at Blackpool.

“Whoever scores the first goal was going to win the game,” he said.

“I’m disappointed in the manner we lost it after we defended set-pieces so well for 92, 93 minutes.

“It’s a tough one to swallow because I thought we deserved a point.

“We created a few chances after we weathered storm for ten minutes.

“Some of our counter-attacks weren’t good enough, we didn’t have a cutting edge.

“We’ve a few issues, but we’ll work hard.

“It’s a horrible way to lose a game. We’ve come up against a team i never would have envisaged playing that way, it’s as direct a team I’ve seen for a long time but you have to withstand it.

“I think lack of quality in the last third was poor, we had chances to counter attack and rushed it. We had no composure of creativity on the ball."

The search for a goal-scorer continues for Flitcroft, who admits two additions would be idea. "We need a finisher, it’s hotting up this last week, it’s been manic behind the scenes," he added.

“We need one, possibly two.”
