Digby Pushing On

2 July 2013

Barnsley youngster Paul Digby is delighted to be back into the swing of things as he enjoys pre-season with the squad in Spain.

The midfielder is eager to put behind him a troublesome hip problem, as he sets his sights on a first-team place next term.

“It’s been a frustrating time but I’ve come back in and fitted in well.” Digby told Barnsley Player from the club’s Spanish training camp. “It doesn’t seem like I’ve been away which is good and the boys have been brilliant with me.

“I’m doing everything I can to prevent the injury coming back.

“I’ve got so many different exercises to do. I have an hour’s work before training. I’ll crack on now.”

Digby, who turned 18 in February, is set to enjoy his first season as a professional having spent last season out injured as a second-year scholar.

“We’re all here to challenge for a place and I’m really looking forward to the new season,” he added.

“Everyone knows the second half of last season was a minor miracle how we pulled it off, and if we take that into next season hopefully we can crack on and push up the table.”
