Danny's Scunthorpe Reaction

29 November 2014

Reds Manager Danny Wilson gave his thoughts following today's 2-1 defeat to Scunthorpe United.

"Without being too critical I don't think we had any real intensity in our game," said Wilson.

"Our decision-making and the timing in dwelling on the ball, we didn't pass with any fluency or quickness.

"We seemed to get into trouble by moving the ball too slowly or making slow decisions and that helped Scunthorpe to press us.

"In doing so, they started the game better than we did."

The Reds took the lead in the 29th minute thanks to Marcello Trotta's first goal for Barnsley only for Scunthorpe to equalise 30 seconds later.

"I thought our goal against the run of play might just kick us into gear a little bit," continued Wilson.

"But we didn't get our chance to get a grip of the game because we conceded after scoring so quickly, it's criminal. It was a bit amateurish, really, in terms of our defending.

"The second goal was very poor defending, I have to say. We can't hide that.

"As the game went on, it was nip and tuck and we threw everything at them and we've had chances."
