Danny's Leyton Orient Reaction

20 December 2014

Reds Manager Danny Wilson gave his thoughts on today's 2-0 win over Leyton Orient at Oakwell.

"I thought the players showed great characteristics today," said Wilson, speaking to Barnsley Player. "We scored two terrific goals in the first half and then the second half we've seen the other side of our character where they've come back and we've defended like it was the last thing they would ever do - fantastic,"

"There's only been two occasions in the game when our goalkeeper's had anything to do, so that says how hard we've worked in front of him.

"It's a great win against a very good side and I know that they find themselves in a position that they're uncomfortable with at the moment, Leyton Orient. But, I have to say, they've got some good players in there and we had to be at our best today.

"The work effort they've put in has been absolutely fantastic."

First half goals from Conor Hourihane and Devante Cole secured the win for Barnsley, who had to hold on at the end with 10 men following the dismissal of Ross Turnbull on 74 minutes.

"We couldn't see it from where we were," said Wilson. "There was a debate whether he'd brought the player down or it was handball. I went to talk to the referee and it seems it was a deliberate handball. But there's an argument that the ball hit him in the chest. Some of the footage isn't conclusive. We'll have to see when he sends his report but I expect it to be for deliberate handball."
