Dale Jennings Grateful to MK Dons and Barnsley Bosses

11 September 2014

Reds winger Dale Jennings thanked MK Dons boss Karl Robinson and current Reds Manager Danny Wilson for their influence on his recent career.

Ahead of the two sides' match on Saturday at Oakwell, Jennings spoke to Barnsley's official matchday magazine about his loan spell with the Dons last season.

“It was good for me,” he reflected. “I’ve known Karl (Robinson – MK Dons manager) since I was eight when I was at Liverpool, so it was good to go work with a manager I knew and worked with before. It gave me the opportunity to go and play and get my fitness up because I wasn’t playing at that time. When I found at Karl wanted to take me I jumped at the opportunity.

“He’s a great manager and has a good bond with his players. His players want to play for him. You can talk to him and he understands his players, what they want and he knows how to handle them individually which is a good thing to have as a manager."

During his loan spell at Stadium:MK, the Reds changed Managers as Danny Wilson returned to Oakwell and Jennings came back fitter and stronger.

“When I went to play for them, having a manager that told me to go enjoy myself and play my own football gave me the confidence I needed at that time," added Jennings. "Then Danny Wilson came back (to Barnsley) and I was able to bring my confidence back from MK Dons and back to Barnsley. I enjoyed my football at Barnsley after I came back thanks to Danny."
