Born in Texas, USA, Shea has played at full international level since 2010 and was recently in action for USA against Scotland.
With just over four months of the season remaining Shea will be looking to get a seat on the plane to Brazil in the summer.
The highly rated winger signed on a four-and-a-half-year contract for Stoke City in January 2013 for a fee of £2.5 million from MLS side FC Dallas.
