May 2015.rdBarnsley Football Club has today signed Cardiff City’s left back Declan John on loan for the remainder of the season up to 3
The 19 year old left back made 23 appearances for the Bluebirds last season, 20 of which were in the Premier League.
John has represented the Wales national side at every level from Under 17 and made his full senior Wales debut against Macedonia in October 2013.
Lee Johnson explained the reasoning behind the signing, “He’s young, but he’s a Wales international and played 20 Premier League games for Cardiff last year so he is reasonably experienced. Declan is very dynamic and very good on the ball and will give us good competition and bring George Smith on as well. We need a left sider, I can play him up on if I need to, he can play wide left which is really another box I felt needed ticking and giving us a bit of natural balance. If anything happened to George it means you have got Nyatanga in left back and I don’t really like my centre halves having to play left or right back.”
