Davies came through the academy system at Everton before moving to Sheffield Wednesday where he worked under Barnsley's current goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley.
Davies, who turns 22 year old next month, is looking forward to starting preseason at Oakwell and staking his claim between the sticks.
"I can't wait and get back to training and for the season to start," said Adam Davies in his first interview as a Barnsley player.
"I worked with Mark Crossley for a few months at Sheffield Wednesday. He is a really good coach and I'll be in good hands here.
"I started off at Everton when I was 14 and spent five or six years there before moving to Sheffield Wednesday. Hopefully this is the start of a new chapter for me at Barnsley.
"I've worked with some top goalkeepers in Tim Howard and Chris Kirkland who were very good with me.
"I'm not here to sit and watch, but I'm here to give Luke Steele a lot of competition over the season and play games."
