U18s | PREVIEW: Nottingham Forest vs Barnsley

13 January 2017

Reds looking to extend their unbeaten run to three games when they travel to Nottingham Forest tomorrow morning.

Barnsley Under 18s will look to extend their unbeaten Professional Development League run to three games when they travel to Nottingham Forest Under 18s tomorrow.

Chris Howarth and Martin Devaney's Reds began 2017 with a 3-3 draw against Bolton Wanderers last time out, but were leading 3-1 heading into the final stages of the game.

Despite dropping two points last time out, Mo Saeed rescued a point for Barnsley in their final league game of 2016, meaning a positive result will extend their unbeaten league run to three games.

However, Barnsley's away form this season has been sensational, with the Reds tasting defeat only once on their travels this season.

That came in a 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, with their previous defeat coming in March 2016, when they were edged out 5-4 in a thrilling clash against Coventry City.

The Reds, who currently sit in eighth place in the table, could climb up one place to seventh with a victory but they will need avenge the side that beat them 3-1 earlier in the season.

Forest are currently second in the table on 34 points, with only goal difference separating them from Sheffield United and have scored more goals than any other side so far this season.

Forest’s home form is almost impeccable, they have lost only one game this season and should they win tomorrow, will secure their tenth straight home win in all competitions.

However, they did suffer defeat last time out in the FA Youth Cup when they were beaten 4-1 away to Stoke City.

In the league, Forest have managed three wins in their last six games and their defence has not been at its best.

They have shipped 16 goals in their last seven matches and only the Reds have conceded more goals this season that the Tricky Trees.

Kick off for tomorrow’s game is at 11am at Nottingham Forest’s Nigel Doughty Academy.
