Reds Donate Medical Supplies To Penistone Church!

22 December 2016

We can confirm we have continued to support the local community with a further donation to help a local side.

Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce that we have continued to fully support our local Club’s with another large donation of medical equipment and supplies, to local side Penistone Church FC.

Following the Club’s medical equipment donation to fellow local side Athersley Recreation FC, we have continued to support our local teams. We recognise the importance of the superb work and commitment that our local sides make in and around the Barnsley community and we will continue to offer our assistance.

Barnsley FC’s Head Physiotherapist Craig Sedgwick and Head of Sports Science Nathan Winder (both pictured above) have carefully selected the products and equipment to donate and Penistone Church have been exceedingly grateful in accepting the donation, making the following comment.

Dave Hampshire, Penistone Church Club Secretary said, “A big thanks on behalf of everyone at Penistone Church Football Club for the kind donation of medical equipment and supplies to our Club. It really is much appreciated by us all and will be a massive help. Our Club Physiotherapist couldn’t be happier with all the new equipment as it is going to make her job a lot easier, as well as helping the players recover from injuries to get them back playing as quickly as possible. Barnsley Football Club have really gone above and beyond to help us out and we look forward to our partnership improving going forward.”

The Reds' Head Physiotherapist Craig Sedgwick commented on the donation, saying, “Just like with the previous donation to Athersley Rec, we are really happy to be able to help another local Club. I want to express just how much it means to the staff when we are able to help the community because the majority of us are all from Barnsley as well. We have good friends at these Club’s and we want to help as much as we can to ensure that the safety and recovery times of people wanting to get involved in the sport is as quick as possible. We’re a town that continues to love football and we hope that everyone in the area can continue play the game they love as well as watching it.”

Penistone Church currently sit second in the NCEL Division One with 57 points from 25 games. During pre-season, the Reds visited Westfield Lane to play a pre-season friendly in front of an excellent crowd, thus showing continued commitment to supporting our non-league local Club’s financially as well.

We’d like to wish Penistone all their best in their attempt to win promotion this season and we look forward to following their progress both on and off the pitch.
