Welsh Under 21 International Joins The Reds From Huddersfield Town.

We are pleased to confirm the signing of forward Jake Charles after the Welshman completed a move to the Reds last night.

After his deadline day transfer, Jake will join up with the development squad at Oakwell. Charles was most recently part of the development squad at Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town, but chose to make the move across to South Yorkshire and joins the Reds permanently until the end of the 2016/17 season.

A tricky winger or striker, Charles has a huge amount of admirers within the game which has seen him represent Wales from under 16 level, up to the 21s. He is currently in the squad for the Wales upcoming U21s matches against Denmark and Luxembourg.

The 20-year-old 6ft 1’ forward has already made his football league debut, playing for Huddersfield Town against Fulham in 2015.

Academy Head of Recruitment Bobby Hassell commented on the signing by saying, “Jake is a great prospect and I am pleased to be able to bring him to Barnsley. He’s tall, fast and causes defences real problems in attacking areas. He’s highly thought after by Wales and is a big part of their plans for the future.”

We’ll be putting the fans questions to Jake as part of our ‘Getting To Know…’ series, which will appear on Barnsley Player HD! Want to ask the Reds latest signing a question? Tweet your questions to @bfc_offical and use the hashtag #AskJake
