Barnsley FC Women's Head Coach Jess Horsley spoke to iFollow Barnsley to mark International Women's Day.
Our Women's boss spoke to iFollow Barnsley about her journey with the team and her coaching career as a whole as a female in football.
The Reds increased involvement and support for the girls in the summer, providing enhanced facilities and resources along with an updated training programme.
It's a move which came with its challenges initially, but one that did not go underappreciated by Jess or the team.
"These last eight months have been absolutely massive," said our Head Coach. "It got towards the end of last season and they were like 'no, it's definitely happening'. Obviously, we won the league, then it became real. The start of this season was a bit unreal at the start. It took a couple of months to kind of settle in and it become real.
"It's just brilliant, everything we get. The setup, the way the Club just brought us in and lets us use the facilities. It's brilliant. The girls absolutely love it. The girls have all bought into it now. It was hard in the first few months to adapt to it. Without the Club we wouldn't have been able to do that and we definitely wouldn't be in the position we're in now in the League and Cup if it wasn't for the Club coming in."
