JESS HORSLEY LOOKS AHEAD TO SUNDAY

15 March 2024

The Women return to Oakwell this Sunday in a 2pm kick off with Sunderland West End.

Ahead of the weekend's action, we caught up with the boss, Jess Horsley.

It's been a while since the Reds played at home, and again had to deal with a late cancellation of a fixture last Sunday when the South Shields game was postponed due to rain.

"We were really disappointed at the late cancellation of our match last Sunday." Horsley admitted, frustrated.

"We had prepped really well leading up to the game and we were looking forward to getting back playing after a week off."

That two-week rest could be positive though, as she explained.

"We have had another productive week training and are looking forward to playing at home after over a month away. We’ve also had some players return from injury which is a positive boost for the squad."

The Reds are currently 4th in the table, but on the same points (31) as Sunday's visitors, Sunderland who sit 5th. Both are just a point shy of league leaders, Bradford City.

Jess is confident, telling us: "It’s going to be good to get back playing after two weeks off and hopefully we can get back to winning ways with a positive result.

"We know it’s going to be a hard game against one of the top teams in the league so we need to be in good form and playing at the high standards we are capable of."

Be sure to join Jess and the girls this Sunday at Oakwell for the 2pm kick off.

It's being played on the Astroturf, FREE entry and refreshments will be available!
