A number of lucky Barnsley FC members were on photo duty last Monday afternoon.
Daniel Stendel’s first team squad had their annual team photo on Oakwell and following recent matchday Members upgrades, Reserved+ U12 Member Lucy Kirk and Reserved+ Member David Youel were randomly selected to feature alongside their heroes in the annual team photo.
Reflecting on a wonderful afternoon, Lucy’s Dad, Paul, said: “Lucy was really excited when she heard she’d been selected. It’s great that the Club have offered this opportunity, it’s certainly a memory that my family will treasure for a lifetime.”
David said: “What great experience, however I’m still puzzled that out of more than 10,000 supporters, I was chosen. Also, it was great of the Club to allow me to bring a guest, fortunately I knew just the person.”
David’s guest, Michael Mills, has been following the Reds for eight decades and his Grandfather was in attendance at Barnsley’s first official fixture, some 131 years ago.
Speaking of his experience, Michael said: “I’ve been coming to Oakwell for over 80 years. I’ve never done anything like this. It has been brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”
