Around 1,000 players have represented the Reds since the Club's formation in 1887, but here's a few notable achievements from some of those to have donned the Oakwell colours...

Most goals in one season: Cecil McCormack - 33 goals in the 1950/51 season



Most Barnsley career goals: Ernie Hine - 131 goals



Most goals in one game:
Five. Frank Eaton (v South Shields 1927). Peter Cunningham (v Darlington February 1933). Beaumont Asquith (v Darlington, November 1938). Cecil McCormack (v Luton Town September 1950).



Most ever appearances: Barry Murphy - 569 (1962-1978)




Most goalkeeper appearances:
 Harry Hough - 364.





Biggest league victory: 9-0 v Loughborough Town (28th January, 1899, Second Division) and Accrington (3rd February, 1934, Division Three North).



Youngest ever player:
Reuben Noble-Lazarus v Ipswich Town in November 2008 aged 15 years and 45 days.




Oldest ever player:
Mike Pollitt - 41 years, five months, 30 days.



Youngest ever captain:
Eric Winstanley - 19 years old





Record player purchase:
Georgi Hristov from Partizan Belgrade for £1.5million (1997) and Mike Sheron from QPR (1999).
