Danny Wilson on new signing Kane Hemmings

19 June 2014

Danny Wilson spoke exclusively to Barnsley Player about the Club’s latest signing, 22 year old striker Kane Hemmings.

“We’ve had our eye on Kane for quite a while,” said Danny Wilson. “The first time I watched him was when he played for Rangers a few seasons ago at a time when the club was have a few problems. A lot of the young players at that time split up from the club and went their own way which was what Kane also did when he went to Cowdenbeath and made a name for himself in league football.

“I’ve always been aware of him. When he was at Tamworth he was very highly rated which is why Rangers took him. We get him now off the back of a very good season with Cowdenbeath having been voted Scottish Championship Player of the Year.

“Kane has a very good scoring record and in a team that struggled last season to get 24 goals in 39 appearances is a credit to himself.

“I don’t think he will have a problem adapting to football in our league which is why I’ve brought him to Barnsley. He has got good pace and he is a very good finisher as the stats will tell you. He can play in a number of positions, but more importantly he’s down the middle and has got goals in him which is what we want to bring into the team.”
