Reds 2 (Proschwitz 29, O'Grady pen 69)
Blackburn Rovers 2 (Cairney 36, Gestede 43)

The points were shared at Oakwell - as were the goals for Barnsley's new strike partnership - with Nick Proschwitz bagging a debut goal in a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

The first shot of the match was registered on five minutes as Tom Cairney's 20-yard effort had to be turned past the post by Steele after the strike zipped up off the turf

Steele had to make another save from Gestede on seven minutes as the Frenchman's shot went through the legs of Cranie.

On 17 minutes Nick Proschwitz beat the offside trap onto Jennings' ball but had more time than he thought as he turned and volleyed from 12 yards but Robinson got down well to deny the striker a debut goal.

The German did bag a debut goal as he thundered home from eight yards into the top corner from Jenning's pinpoint delivery. It was just what the Reds needed to lift the atmosphere.

On 34 minutes Dale Jennings won the ball in his own half and played a one-two with Kennedy before cutting in onto his left and zipping a shot just over the bar from outside the box.

The leveller came for Blackburn came on 36 minutes as Tom Cairney cracked a shot at goal and a deflection off O'Brien took the ball over the reach of Luke Steele.

Stephen Dawson burst into the box down the right on 42 minutes and his cross was blocked out for a corner at he near post with O'Grady lurking.

Rovers took the lead with just over a minute of first-half time remaining. The visitors charged forward on a counter and found Gestede inside the area, and he slammed home into the near post.

Second half

Paul Digby entered the action at the expense of Stephen Dawson in the middle of the park.

Both sides had pot-shots in the first five minutes of the restart. Tom Cairney fired over from 22 yards for Rovers whilst O'Brien latched onto O'Grady's lay-off at the other end but hammered wide.

Lewin Nyatanga was replaced by Tomasz Cywka on 56 minutes as the Reds sought a way back into the match.

Shea showed outrageous footwork to thread in Proschwitz on the hour but Robinson denied the German with a smart save after the striker latched onto the ball first time.

Barnsley made their final change with Dale Jennings coming off for Liam Lawrence with just less than half an hour left.

Liam Lawrence was hauled down in the area when he was set to head at goal from five yards after a cross deflected into his path. Chris O'Grady stepped up to send Robinson the wrong way and bag his tenth goal of the season on 69 minutes.

There was a lengthy break in play as Blackburn's Williamson went down in a heap. Josh King made his return from injury to replace him.

Both sides were going for the winner as nine minutes of stoppage time was added.

King cut in from the left and tested Steele at his near post with a wicked low drive from just inside the area.

O'Grady showed his power down the left before standing a cross up for his strike partner Proschwitz but the big striker's header went wide of Robinson's post three minutes into added time.

O'Brien fizzed a wicked cross in that almost caught Robinson out at his near post and the former England 'keeper had to tip the ball out for a corner.
