Scowen and Pearson Nearing Return Whilst Davies Misses Out

26 March 2015

It's mixed news on the injury front for Head Coach Lee Johnson as in-form goalkeeper Adam Davies is ruled out for several weeks with a groin tear.

However, midfield duo Ben Pearson and Josh Scowen are nearing a return to action after illness and a hamstring injury, respectively, with the Reds set for a tough trip to Bristol City on Saturday.

Speaking of his goalkeeper Davies, Johnson said, "It's one of those where he could have probably played. If it was a Cup Final - the last game of the season - we would have probably taped him up and sent him out there. But he has got a tear.

"It could just be one kick and it turns a minor one into a major one.

"He's done great and probably surprised people, inside and outside the club, with how well he's done. Now he's got that confidence. But if he's playing with the risk of a serious injury, I'm not sure that would have been the correct duty of care from ourselves.

Ben is fine. He's come back from his illness. He trained well today. He looked bright and sharp. He'd had a lot of games for a young lad. It will have done the muscles in his body some good with a little rest.

"We're hoping Josh is alright. We're going tentatively on him. A scan showed he had a slight knick in his hamstring. It's just a case of seeing how he feels, really. We'll take guidance from the player and see how he is."
